Les Jasmins
The group Les Jasmins is the consequence of the amazing encounter of Alexandra and her first Serbian students.
When Alexandra, « The French », proposes in 2003 a course of Egyptian dance to an audience of Serbian women, all she encounters are skeptical smiles...
But, thanks to circumstances, it seems that it has been waited for Alexandra to come: Serbian women have dreamed for months about dancing, while watching a TV serial in which women practice the oriental dance.
And this is not the end of surprises: she discovers that 5 centuries of the Ottoman Empire domination in Serbia have left a trace on the musical sensibility and the ability to understand oriental rhythms.
Serbian women are beautiful, receptive, friendly and gifted.
The first students show very much enthusiasm and desire to discover and participate in this dance, so closely linked to their emotional and cultural heritage.
This is how the group Les Jasmins is born!
